Red Lotus Arts | Banner

BodhisattvaRed Lotus Arts began in 2001 as a context in which to promote my own work as an artist, designer and workshop leader, and as an online gallery showcasing work by friends, and other artists inspired by Buddhist meditation and art. As time has gone by my own interest in the project has changed, and I have gradually ceased development of the project and allowed the domain to lapse. This page is purely a marker for anyone wondering what happened to Red Lotus Arts!

Slightly more recent work can be seen online at by returning to the main page. There you can find an expanded portfolio of my work, with a page containing some background information on my work, and how it was produced.

The image to the left is a large pastel study on paper, of a Chinese Buddhist fresco, the original of which can be found in the Guimet Museum in Paris. The study is very large, at almost full size, approx. 84' x 60'. The image shows a scene with a Bodhisattva, or Wisdom-Being (upper left); two Arahants, enlightened beings, in the form of old monks; a Chinese abbot (bottom left), and the family of a donor (bottom right). I made the study purely out of curiosity as a way to enter into the world of the original ancient Chinese artists. The piece was originally exibited as part of the open house exhibition at the Brighton Buddhist Centre, UK, in May 2002. It is now on permanent exhibition in the meditation hall.
